Chocolate Covered Bacon?

This is the perfect entry to follow my Bacon Cheeseburger - Mainly because I used some of the leftover Ingredients and made these on the same day!

Something that I've always wanted to try was Chocolate Covered Bacon. Now I know most of you are the same thing that I did when I first heard the concept - "Wait... what? Yuck!"

I assure you that this recipe is a quite delicious treat.

This recipe is so simple and only really requires 2 ingredients - I used 3 because I have this bad tendency of trying to spice up all my recipes to be very different (exhibit a below is using 2 different chocolate flavors). I made enough so that my family could each try one - the recipe below serves about 10 pieces.

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Ingredients:

5 Slices of Apple Smoked Bacon
1/3 cup of Mini Chocolate (your choice) Kisses or Baker's Chocolate

1. Start by frying your bacon with a very small amount of butter. Should only take a few minutes on each side.

2. Once cooked, immediately transfer to a plate covered with a paper towel to remove any/all excess grease. Once cooled, break each piece in half.

3. Using your microwave, melt down your chocolate - milk, dark, or white - make sure to mix a few times as you heat it to ensure that the chocolate doesn't burn.

4. Simply dip the bacon into the chocolate and immediately transfer to a tray (small enough to fit in your fridge). I made the mistake of trying to fully cover the bacon with a layer of chocolate but you really just want enough where you can taste both flavors in every bite - mine batch, the chocolate slightly overpowered the bacon.

OPTIONAL 5. If you like, you can remove from the fridge and decorate with another flavor chocolate as I did. I just melted down white chocolate and carefully detailed each piece.

Any there you have it - a quick and easy dessert. Definitely one of those snacks that you wouldn't think of but is a true treat and full of flavor. Enjoy!
