Farina

Good morning to my faithful recipe followers! My contribution on this fine day is a recipe that was a large part of my childhood and making it this morning for the first time in years, truly brought me back.

Here is my recipe for a truly unique breakfast treat, Farina.

Now, let me start by saying that this recipe is straight off of the box with the exception of a few key additions I put in for flavor (I will mark these in the ingredients list). Please note that I am making the recipe with measurements for 2 servings. Feel free to tweak any of these measurements to your own taste preferences.

Prep Time: <5 Minutes
Cook Time: 15 Minutes

1/3 cup Farina (Original)
2 cups Milk (Skim)

Optional but all included in my version:
2 Cinnamon Sticks
1 tbsp Sugar (Granulated)
A few drops of Vanilla Extract
Butter to Taste

1. Pour Milk into a pot on stove and heat until near-boiling stirring continuously (if you don't, the milk will burn almost instantly).

2. Once heated, add the Farina & Sugar slowly while continuing to mix. After these are added, I threw in the Cinnamon Sticks and Vanilla.

3. Continue to stir until Farina thickens (depending on the stove, it should take less than 5 minutes).

4. Remove pot from heat and pour Farina on to a plate evenly. Put a slice or two of Butter on top of hot Farina. Now you are done!

5. I want to add 2 additional optional notes here. Before digging in, it is wise to throw some hot water and soap into the pot to make cleanup easier when you are done eating because Farina can harden and becomes a chore to clean later. Second, eat with a spoon working from the outside in. This ensures that you are continuously eating hot Farina which I find preferable to it being cold.

I hope that you all have a great Sunday filled with good food and Football!
